Talk:Meta
On this page we can talk about ideas, sketches, hopes and dreams for the future of this wiki.
Using a wiki as a message board is counter-intuitive at first, but you'll get the hang of it – the gist is: it's just editing and leaving text, not unlike editing regular wiki pages, plus signing your comments and adding some indentation with :, :: and so forth. Feel free to inspect this page's code to learn how.
Please use == Insert Topic Here == to increase both readability and visibility, and please add your comment – if it's not a reply to another comment – to the top of this page, below this textbox! Thanks :)
REQUEST: make external links open in new window
I think the usual thing is for external links (to other sites) to open in another window/tab. I think maybe that's how it worked yesterday and it got changed. Here's the docs on how to adjust the setting: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:$wgExternalLinkTarget --Severian (talk) 01:57, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
Adding images
Is there a way to add images to a page? The help says to upload an image, but I don't know where to upload it to
Should we have a page saying where to get autism-related stuff? On the one hand, this could be a useful resource. On the other, it could very easily turn into a spam page, w/ nothing but free advertising
- Good question. That may be too difficult to judge. Anything from noise-cancelling headphones to T-shirts w/ Autism-related sayings
Create a new section with a level 2 header
Then, describe what the thread is about. This is a section for talking about how to talk.
- Greetings! I'm MrPedroBraga! The first message I like to use an * to make that little black dot.
I can also sign my messages by using four tildes at the end of it (I add two en dashes - before just for style). --MrPedroBraga (talk) 00:24, 23 August 2022 (UTC)
- Greetings again! I'm MrPedroBraga! I can indent another message by appending : symbols to the beggining of it. I think that's called a "colon." --MrPedroBraga (talk) 00:24, 23 August 2022 (UTC)
- Hi, I'm another user (not really, but pretend it is). I'm replying to MrPedroBraga by indenting a message underneath theirs. --AnonymousUserButItsPedroAgainActually.
